Testing using CSP Models: Time, Inputs, and Outputs

The existing testing theories for CSP cater verification of interaction patterns (traces) and deadlocks, but not time. We address here refinement based on a dialect CSP, called tock -CSP, which can capture discrete time properties. This version has been widespread interest decades; recently, it given denotational semantics, model checking become possible using well established tool. Here, we first equip -CSP with novel semantics testing, distinguishes input output events: the standard models ( -)CSP do differentiate them, this is essential. then present new theory timewise refinement, definitions test execution. Finally, reconcile by relating timed ioco in inputs outputs. With these results, paper provides, time, systematic that allows both to be expressed. An important practical consequence ensures notion correctness used developers guarantees tests pass when applied correct system and, addition, faults identified during correspond development mistakes.
